Collectable Vintage Bulldog Dogs

(English Bulldog) (British Bulldog)

For your enjoyment only. This is my own personal vintage dog figurine collection. They are not for sale.

Shown is a West Germany vintage Bulldog figurine by Goebel. This is a very muscular brown and white Bulldog with lots of face wrinkles, big head with some black on the muzzle. He has the engraving CH626 on the back left leg. On the back right leg there is a stamp of the Goebel logo of the bee inside of the V above the 'bel' in the name Goebel. Under that it reads W. Germany. The date 1969 is engraved into the back right leg under the logo. The date indicates the year the mold was made. It is the logo that is the determining factor of the time period the actual piece was made. The logo this dog has is what collectors call the trademark 5 (TMK-5). It sets the date it was made between 1972 and 1978. He has a glossy finish and is in good condition. There is some crazing on the underbelly. This Bulldog is larger than some of the other Goebel Bulldogs that I have seen. He stands 4 1/4 inches tall from the ground to the top of the head, 7 inches long from the front of the face to the tip of the tail and 3 1/2 inches wide.

1970s white bisque porcelain Bulldog by Goebel. Front view

This is a very unique looking 1970s white bisque porcelain Bulldog by Goebel. It is unglazed, hard-fired and translucent when held up to the light looking through the air hole. It appears to be from the same mold as the Bulldog figurine shown above, the difference being that this one was never hand painted or glazed. It is also slightly smaller. From what I hear, as a mold is used over and over again the pieces it produces become larger and less detailed. I am assuming this is the case for these two pieces. Even without the paint you can see the awesome details of this piece. On the front left leg is an engraving that reads CH 627. On the back right leg is an engraving that reads 1970, which is the date the mold was made. There is also a blue stamp of the trademark 5 (TMK-5) Goebel logo of the bee inside the V above the 'bel' in the name Goebel. Below that it reads W. Germany. The logo sets the date of this figurine between 1972 and 1978. It stands 3 3/4 inches tall from the ground to the top of the head, 6 inches long from the front of the face to the tip of the tail and 3 inches wide across the chest.

1950s West Germany mini white English Bulldog with a brown spot over the eye by Goebel.

This is a 1950s West Germany mini white English Bulldog in a standing pose with a brown spot over the eye by Goebel. This is one of the smaller figurines I have seen Goebel make, although it is not the smallest. It stands 2 1/2 inches high from the ground to the top of the head, 3 1/4 inches long from the front of the face to the back of the leg and 1 3/4 inches wide across the front of the chest. On the bottom is the trademark 2 (TMK-2) Goebel logo of the full bee inside the V. The bee’s wings are higher than the top of the V. This sets the date of this figurine between 1950 and 1956. There is also an engraving which I think reads 29. Sometimes I look at it and think that first number is an 8, reading 89. The first number is hard to make out. This figurine is in great vintage condition with minimal crazing. I tend to favor the smaller pieces and this one is just adorable.
